The 13 woes of Isaiah
Woe unto this people
Woe to the wicked
Woe unto them that follow strong drink
Woe unto them that call good evil and evil good
Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight
Woe to them that justify the wicked
Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees,
Woe to the rebellious children, that take counsel, but not of me;
Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots,
Woe to thee that spoilest, and dealest treacherously,
Woe to them who strive with their maker
Woe to him who speak against his father.
Thank God for a preacher who can see and preach against the evils in his day.
Is. 6:1 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. 2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. 3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. 4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.
Fear a man who can denounce the problems in the nation, his city, and his church, but never stop in the middle of his list and admits, "Woe is me! for I am undone"
It is noteworthy when Isaiah met God face to face his first response was,
"woe is me! For I am undone"
You can always tell when someone has really seen the Lord,
They are humble, and reply " Woe is me"

The simple fact is that good and evil exists within everyone of us.
ReplyDeleteWhen we do evil we blame it on the devil (he tempted me) and when we have done so we ask forgiveness...there is conviction and contrition, and by means of this sort of prayer we still believe ourselves to be a basically good person.
From this belief ('I am a good person') we draw strength to live our life, which we live succesfully only when here is freedom from guilt.
Good...for Good we or other see in us, we give credit to God for accomplishing in our lives--and this too gives strength to our life.
