There is a giant in your house.

A challenge to fathers.

There is a giant in your house.

His presence will overshadow everything that happens in your house.

What you wife and children become, will largely be determined by the type of shadow this giant will cast.

I have been married to my wife for 28 years, we have had a happy marriage. We have raised 3 wonderful, well balanced daughters. But every so often I have felt the presence of a giant in my house. It is the shadow of my father in law.

In a society that has tried to deminish the importance of men and fathers, I want to declare," Men you are the giant that lives in your house."

Every decision you make, your wife and children will have to live in the shadow of that decision.

The ability of your children to succeed and find happiness will greatly be affected by the shadow you've cast in their lives.

Especially in young girls, the influence of their father is crucial to them finding and maintaining true love and intimacy through out their adult lives.

We receive many wonderful traits from both our mothers and fathers, but in most cases children receive their work ethics from their fathers.

What kind of a shadow are you casting into the future success or failure of your family.

As men, when we thinking about headship in the home, we say " I am in charge."

That is true, but the greater truth is "we are responsible"

When Adam and Eve sinned, God came looking for Adam ... He was responsible

We are responsible not only for what we say, but for what we allow by our silence.

"I am responsible" changes the focus from a power struggle to the fact of responsibility.

Submission to one who is responsible is a much easier pill to swallow, than to someone who is always in charge. The man who is always in charge is a bully and not a leader.

Your children will be married and live with someone else longer than have they lived with you. Give them the best chance that you can to succeed.

When your family feels the presence of your shadow walk into their home, let it be a welcomed visitor not an intruder.

There is a giant in your home.

You are that giant.

I pray this challenges you to become all God has called you to become. Both for your sake and those who will live in your shadow. Build with a purpose and a plan in mind.
