An open letter to Ben and Lashel

This is the third time I have had the privilege to publicly commend and bless one of my own children. I am proud to announce the engagement of my daughter Lashel Nichole, to Ben Thulin. The wedding is planned for October 14, in Sand springs Oklahoma.

First off Lashel, well done in finding such a fine young man!

Secondly, I am so very proud of the person you have become.

Well done, you have excelled, academically, professionally, socially, and spiritually.

When you were presented with many opportunities to fail, quit, and backslide, you over came and excelled.

You not only survived, you have thrived.

I often cringe when I recall the path life has asked you to walk. But when I consider the grace of your being, the sweetness if your spirit, I am forced to acknowledge Gods Grace has been in your life.

Well done girlfriend.

I am proud of you and happy for you!

Ben, well done in navigating the minefield of dating and growing up and remaining pure. Even in Pentecost those who have successfully survived is limited, you both have done it.

Well done!

Early on in the dating process, I spoke to you about "Being trusted is a greater honor, than being loved". Thank you, thank you, thank you, for looking beyond the "rules" of dating and embracing the principles of trust. Not one time have I had to worry while you and Lashel have been together.

Secondly Ben, thank you for being easy to speak to and eager to respond. You have all the makings of a great man. I respect you, and I honor you.

Well done Ben!

I am proud of Lashel's selection in a life partner.
